7-Zip is a file archiver using the LZMA algorithm for compression for its 7z archives. This relatively new format allows the program to achieve a very high compression ratio, comparable to other popular high compression formats. The program supports 7z, ZIP, CAB, RAR, ARJ, LZH, CHM, GZIP, BZIP2, Z, TAR, CPIO, RPM and DEB formats.
